Officially it's now spring, even if the flowers and tree buds are struggling in the changeable weather. We bring you this latest newsletter with a glance back to our heart-filled winter February event, and a look forward to some fun and informative upcoming events coming in the warmer months.

The spring and summer are great times to get involved with our group, meet new people, and play a part in preserving and celebrating the character of Ocean City.

“Unlock the Ocean” With Friends of OCNJ!

Friday, May 22, 2026, 12:00 PM
This annual event, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, the City, and the Lifeguards, marks the opening of the ocean for the summer season. A group of us decked out in vintage swimwear will race into the ocean (and then, realizing the water is freezing, race back out again!). We will have snacks on the beach and, after the event, participants wearing a wet vintage suit will be invited to get a free drink at the Flanders Coffee Shop.

We will be providing vintage bathing suits for $25, available for pickup at the Flanders Hotel. Please order in advance using the link here or below.

This event is open to everyone — Friends members and those interested in learning more about us. Come take the plunge with us!

Join us as we recommence our monthly community discussions on issues related to the preservation of Ocean City’s historic and older homes and landmarks. Your voice and ideas are important as we work together to protect the history that makes our town so special.

2026 Garden Tour

Save the date and get ready to explore the beautiful gardens of Ocean City! This is a self-guided tour that showcases some of the most beautiful private gardens around town, and it’s always a highlight of the season. Mark your calendars today!

JIM AND TRACY CARLINO have beautifully restored their charming home at 841 E. Fourth St. The Carlinos took over from Jim’s uncle Bill Bunt and his wife Kitty, who owned the home from 1980 to 2009.

They continue to honor their aunt and uncle with lovely porches shaded by billowing canvas awnings, American flags, wicker furniture and hanging baskets. A rooster weather vane looks down from the garage roof. READ MORE
